Avenging Spider-man #4 Review

We've come to the end of our first story arc, a team up with Rulk and now Spidey's found a new partner... Hawkeye! Straight from the pages of The Avengers and right in time to promote his new movie, 'The Avengers', the Robin Hood of the Marvel world teams up with the Masked Menace to go out on patrol. Writer: Zeb Wells Artist: Greg Land Inks: Jay Leisten Colours: Wil Quintana Cover: Greg Land & Justin Ponsor Plot: Captain America has sent Spider-man and Hawkeye out on street patrol, a concept which Hawkeye can't understand a need for. "We have enough trouble without going out looking for more" is his theory. Eventually they stumble onto the trail of a plot to launch a gas attack at Grand Central Station by The Serpent Society, although this is secondary, as the main focus is on Hawkeye's strange behaviour. Throughout the issue Hawkeye is clearly agitated, he's rash, he's snappy, and he can't sit still for 5 minut...

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Boredom

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Boredom A Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance Review Hard to know where to start with this one. A balanced review would weigh up the positives and negatives, but it’s finding the positives that I’m really struggling with. I like Ghost Rider and I really wanted this film to be good, I really did. I think I was the perfect target audience for this film, as I like comics and the fantasy and adventure that comes with them, but I’m not a massive fanboy of Ghost Rider, so I don’t care how close to the source material they stayed. I also like Nicolas Cage and was a fan of the first film. So if I hated it, what must everyone else think? Ok let’s start with the aspects I did like. Ghost Rider himself. While not perfect, his CGI and movements were much better than his laughably slow and fake appearance in the first film. The new blackened skull and overall thinner shape made him look much less like a Burger King toy and more demonic. Also the dayti...

Chronicle, Chronicled

Chronicle, Chronicled SPOILERS EVERYWHERE! Woo….. another teen superhero film. Or is it? Chronicle follows three teens who get super telekinetic powers from touching a rock, er…. thing, in an underground cave. It then follows their different reactions to their telekinesis. We have Steve, the confident character, running for class president who likes to feel on top, Matt, who wants the group to be responsible and keep their powers hidden, and Andrew, a social outcast, the bullied kid who has parent-issues who slowly loses his grasp on his new found strength. The story was pretty tight, nice to see the parallel reactions to the powers. In particular Andrew, (played by Dane DeHaan) stole the show with his transformation particularly well handled. Andrew always keeps a barrier between himself and the world, from his camera at the start to a physical manifestation when his powers go into overload and he becomes more obsessed with his strength. It’s a classic case...

Battle Artist- Ben 10

Yes you did read the title right. Ben 10. My first fight on Battle Artist and I signed up before the subject was announced. And I get Ben 10. I have no idea what Ben 10 is apart from a kids' TV show that thinks it can replace Dragonball. Anyway from what I can see Ben is a shapeshifting alien. Or a kid who can shapeshift into aliens or.... something. Anyway I decided to go for a more realistic approach- taking a photo of myself and going back to Manga Studio and digital inking. Here's my first ink outlines on Manga Studio aaaaand the Photoshop flats and the first tones in PS And the final versions with slightly more 'alien' looking colours Will post when I see what my opposition submits!

30 Day Challenge #7 WORD

Day 7 of the 30 Day, 30 drawing, 30 minute challenge Today's subject is: Your Favourite Word Contenders were 'Kamehameha' from Dragonball, 'Pikachu' as said numerous times by.... Pikachu, and 'Fatality' from Mortal Kombat. Went with this glorious sound from my childhood Who doesn't love Crash Bandicoot?

30 Day Challenge #6 BOOK CHARACTER

So today's (yesterday's by the time I post this) is to draw Your Favourite Character from a Book Hmmm... Books. Not my strong point. I think I've read about 10 books in my life and 7 of them involved a certain wizard... But anyway decided to draw James Bond. But moreso in the way he's described in the books. He's older, wiser, not so much a muscle bound, gadget wielding super agent but a slimmer, more mature, cigar smoking gentleman. Why a tennis racket? In Devil May Care (the last Bond book I read), he spent alot of time playing tennis, while getting info on the villain

30 Day Challenge #5 BEST FRIEND

So today's topic of the 30 day 30 minute 30 drawing challenge is Your Best Friend This was not a tough decision at all for me. Right from the off I knew what I had to do. She's perfect for me. I just don't know what I'd do without her. She looks great. She feels great. We can watch DVDs together or even do our shopping and its always a joy. I work well with her. Sometimes she plays hard to get but we always get by in the end. She does what I ask, with no questions asked. We very rarely argue. But most importantly, She always gets turned on when I'm around. It has to be.... Macy the Macbook Pro Terrible quick drawing but it's 1am here and I've had a very long and stressful week so it's the best I'm for getting outta me

30 Day Challenge #4 PLACE

Day 4 of the 30 day, 30 minute, 30 drawings challenge and todays subject is Your Favourite Place This was quite a tough one for me as I really couldn't think of that one place I can chill out, relax and feel totally at home in. Nowhere was really jumping out, Decided to go with the cinema. Got a bit of practice at drawing in perspective, went over the time limit and didn't get it finished but sure, it's something a bit different. Crappy quality, phone camera, sorry! Had to put in Cesare =)
