Issues of Trust- The Definitive Mafia Short Film

Issues of Trust- The Definitive Mafia Short Film. That's right folks, it's finally finished! This is a short 6 minute film that a few of the guys and girls from Uni have been cooking up over the last while. It will be appearing in the April Film Devour festival in Belfast so stay tuned for more details. Issues of Trust is about... well issues of trust! Tony Valcone, head of a mafia family has called an emergency meeting in order to 'reshuffle' the positions within his crime family business. Here's the official poster I made when we announced the film The film stars local legends Chris Heath and Joel Mulhern and was directed by Chris Madden. Behind the scenes were me, planning and setting up the lighting and pre vis-ing the shots, Eoin Feighan on camera, Amanda Bowes recording the sound and Chris Madden editing the final piece. We had a few problems with the sound, as in the room next to the one we hired out were music and drama lessons all day, alon

Project 250- Week 6 WITCH WEEK!

Ok peeps, here's week 6 of Project 250! So far, so good! Just another quick recap to any new followers, Project 250 is my goal of doing 250 Daily Sketch Challenges this year, as posted on Outcast Studios. I may be drawing them digitally/traditionally, head sketches/full bodies and even 3D CGI sometimes (check out last week's Punxsutawney Pete if you don't believe me!) So yeah these daily challenges usually take between 15 mins and an hour, depending on hour much time I have. Unfortunately last week seen me in hospital and not being too well the rest of the week but I managed to churn out some stuff anyway. I also was prioritising my Round 1 CBR drawing which you can check out in the previous post. This week's theme was WITCHES! Monday Scarlet Witch Tuesday Klarion the Witch Boy Wednesday Bewitched (TV show) Crappy phone camera sorry lol Thursday Witch Hazel Friday Sabrina the Teenage Witch Eugh, onto next week!

CBR4 Round 1 entry! Goku vs. Cucumber

This is it folks! Here's the entries to Round 1 of the 4th Character Battle Royale Tournament! A quick recap on how it works.... Every artist picks ONE character. This character stays with them. They are paired up against another artist and their character. Each artist must show a battle between the 2 characters. If you look at my blog post from about 2 entries ago, you'll see that I chose Goku from Dragonall and my opponent chose Cucumber from Cucumber Quest. Well my opponent from what I can tell is a very experienced comic artist with loooooads of experience in full colour comic strips and a day job (ithink in animation) that involves drawing every day. I needed to up my game. What do you think? Click to view full size Here's what my opponent delivered Wow those are some serious colours and such a quirky style going in there. I'll updated with the results, but at the moment I'm 24-11 up in votes :)

Me vs. 20th Century Fox! Piccolo Battle!

So after mucking about with a 3D model for last week's Punxsutawney Pete I decided to move onto something a bit more fun. To challenge myself and see if I could come up with a more faithful depiction of Piccolo from Dragonball in an hour on an ipad, without a reference picture, than Fox could with a $30m-$100m budget (real precise there, Wikipedia). THE TARGET Just a giant fighting Yoshi THE CONTENDERS FOX, established movie studio, been around since time began. You've all seen their logo. Didn't know what a Dragonball was until they heard money was involved ME, future owner of Fox and just about every other major player in the film/entertainment industry. Very few have seen my logo. Own my own set of Dragonballs, that's right Typical annoying fanboy who owns his own set of Dragonballs THE RULES Successfully create a Piccolo with a $30-$100m budget within 2 years with a team of industry experts for Fox. Or do it in an hour on an ipad with v

CBR Tournament Round 1 line up!

So Round 1 of my latest art competition has been drawn up. The 4th Character Battle Royale, hosted over at Outcast Studios The Competition: Every artist picks one character and said character stays with them for the duration of the tournament. I chose Goku from Dragonball Z. Goku in standard and Super Saiyan forms Each artist is then paired up against someone else and both have to draw a fictional fight between their 2 characters. We had around 50 artists enter this time, the biggest ever in a CBR tournament! Round 1: I was drawn up against animatrix1490 who had chosen Cucumber from Cucumber Quest, a webcomic I think. Cucumber This artist has an extremely impressive portfolio of work and this'll sure be one heck of a fight! Just how do you make one of the most powerful warriors in the universe, capable of levelling planets and supernatural abilities, fight a little bunny rabbit?! Well I had 6 overall ideas and sketched them all up (I'll post them

Project 250- Week 5

So far so good folks, here's week 5 of Project 250. Project 250 is my goal to do 5 Daily Sketch Challenges a week, One a day Monday through Friday, until the end of 2013, with the goal of having 250 sketches at least, at the end. The Daily Sketch Challenges are posted over at Outcast Studios, go check them out! 2013 has already been an absolutely abysmal year for me personally and this week included a nice, depressing 7 and a half hour hospital stay. But I would totally recommend a daily challenge like this to anyone in any aspect, whether that be writing, arts, sports anything because seeing improvements in something that you love doing, (and you really do see them when you do something everyday), is so rewarding that it can help numb other pains. Without further ado, here's sketches 21-25 Monday Alfred Pennyworth Tuesday Storm Wednesday Hippogriff Thursday Satana Friday Punxsutawney Phil Oh wait! That last one, you say? That last DSC of Phil
