Galactus vs. Loki CBR Round 1

*By the way, this fight is a week or two old and my piece was completed on my old tablet and not my new shiny Intuos!* It's time for the third Character Battle Royale Tournament over at Outcast Studios! The tagline is 'evil shall rise' this time and the theme is villains. No more tag teams, this is every man for himself! The idea is for each participant to choose a villain. They are then teamed up with someone else in a one on one fight to the death. Each artist will draw BOTH characters locked in mortal combat. Pretty much this guy but about 300000x bigger My chosen warrior is..... Galactus , the devourer of worlds! (from Fantastic Four) Why? I just thought it would be interseting to see how everyone would approach a one on one fight when one of the participants is bigger than a planet. So yeah in Round One I got paired off with the consistently great Rachael Wells. She chose Loki (from Thor) meaning both of us would have to draw Galactus vs. Loki ...

New tablet! Introducing the Intuos!

FINALLY! A new tablet after wearing out my old Bamboo I was quite lucky with this one. The other week I was on the verge of buying the Intuos 4. My Bamboo's all but done and I decided it was time to step up into the professional market. So I go down to Currys and they haven't any in stock, nor are they getting any back in. Craaaappppp. I spend of the rest of the day angry at the world >=( The next day I decide to order one off Amazon. It means waiting a few days and relying on Amazon's turd delivery service to not smash the thing up in the post or leave it lying at their backside. Eh, why try out Wacom's site? They might have a student offer on. The Intuos 5 was just released THAT day. I was dangerously close to paying hundreds of pounds on something that was already outdated. So I gots me an Intuos 5 =D Wireless, over 2000 levels of pressure, tilt sensitivity, multi-touch gestures, really big, black surface and a really fecking big dent in my stu...

The Hunger Bore

The Hunger Bore The Hunger Games Review I'm probably going to get a ton of hate mail for this but I didn't like this movie. There, I said it. Don't get me wrong, it's not Wrath of the Useless  or Ghost Rider: Spirit of Humiliation bad, but I really don't see where the hype's coming from. I'll keep this one short and sweet, due to a painfully bad essay looming over me and getting ready for my new tablet =D Doing my Susan from Narnia impression For the second time in as many trips to the cinema, I was bored . The film dragged out, from the long build up to the games and then during the games itself. In a build up for a fight to the death, I don't want to see the combatants on a talk show, I want to see them training and atmosphere building, maybe alliances being formed and some fierce rivalries. I did appreciate that this was to show the themes and distance itself from just being another standard action flick but it just didn't ge...

Battle Artist: Colour Battle- Naruto

So for my second fight in Battle artist I had to colour Ubermorte's (http://ubermorte.deviantart.com/) Naruto lines. Ubermorte's awesome Naruto inks I wanted to have tone, but at the same time wanted to stay faithful to the anime style of Naruto. Went for extremely bright colours and then faded their transparency to make the darker tones stand out. Then I pretty much went mad with the Rasengan in the background! To be honest, backgrounds are my stumbling block. I avoid doing them when I can and this was no exception but at least I got to experiment with the crazy energy waves =) And here's my finished colours All in Photoshop CS5 of course What do we think?

Fail of the Titans

Fail of the Titans Wrath of the Titans Review Where to begin on this train wreck. Don't worry, she's never actually in danger I suppose I shouldn’t really call it a disappointment after the original Crap of the Titans assaulted audiences’ eyes for 2 or so hours. I did however have a glimmer of hope that the sequel might have learned from its mistakes but no, no it doesn’t. It’s just really boring! Honestly I’ve never seen a film that looked so good and had so much potential bore me to death like this. There was no character development, no attachment, no relatable characters, no likeable characters and the ‘final boss’ sucked harder than the new range of Dyson hoovers. Was Perseus supposed to be a deep, complex but ultimately likeable young man? No. He kills his brother without any attempt of reconciliation or even final words. It was all completely underwhelming, with never a sense of danger or urgency. Throughout the movie Kronos is hyped ...
