Ok so I have a million and one things to do.
On my to do list is a lot of things to do with filming, a dissertation and graphic design.
But none of it involves what I love doing most- drawing fantasy characters for the sheer hell of it!
Out of fear that I'm losing myself and my inner interests to the world of work I've decided to take a few hours and just draw. For no purpose, competition or payment, but just to end up with an original picture of a fantasy character, like I used to do daily.
Only now I think I've improved =)
I chose to draw Neytiri from James Cameron's Avatar for a couple of reasons.
Firstly,
it was a pastel drawing of Neytiri that was the first picture I ever uploaded digitally (it was on deviantart I think), marking the first time I ever felt confident enough to let my artwork be unleashed on the world.
Secondly,
I had the piano sheet music of Avatar sitting on my desk in front of me lol
I used a few techniques that I learned from my study of Dave Gibbons' Rorschach pic, which you can check out here- link
So what do ya think?
Inked in MangaStudio and coloured/textured in Photoshop CS5 on my Wacom Intuos 5.
Oh and here's my original Neytiri back in June 2010!
I must be a poster boy for improving through practice and repetition by now!
Keep busy people!
